Tree planting at Christmas time

We've just planted another 50 or so trees and shrubs on the Football Copse along the fence line. We also opened up the copse so people can walk through the copse. A single path will be kept mown but the rest of the copse will be left unmown so we can thicken up the woodland. Lastly we started to coppice some of the trees by cutting them down to the ground so they shoot from the base in the spring. We will have to cover the cut stumps so the rabbits and muntjac deer don't graze the succulent young shoots.
