Parish Field Habitat Survey
In 1988 ecologists from Leicestershire County Council carried out a field by field habitat survey of Ketton Parish. It's a very good baseline for us to revisit the sites and compare with what is still there and what has changed.
Here are the files.
Bird Survey of Hall Close
Over the last 10 years Roger Shepherd has collected records of birds in Hall Close. It is a fantastic record that shows the huge diversity of birds visiting, feeding and nesting in Hall Close.
Here is the spreadsheet.
Ketton Tree Survey
There are some fantastic trees planted in and around the village of Ketton, especially around Church Road Bridge, Priory and Stable Fields, as well as in Hall Close.
Here's some tree trails and maps with details of these trees.
Some apps for surveying
There's lots of free apps to help you do this on your local walks. So here's a few.
- BirdNET - identifying birds by sound
- Tree Identification - by The Woodland Trust
- TMA Fungi - looking at wood-decaying fungi
- Shroomify - Fungi
Let us know what apps you may be using on your local walks.
Cemetery Survey
In 2020 we did an initial survey of the grassland flowers in the unmown area of the cemetery.
Planned Surveys
During 2021 we are planning to survey the grassland flowers in the churchyard and the flowering plants, insects and bats in Hall Close and Sinc Stream. We are also planning to start monitoring the invertebrates in the River Chater. So do contact us if you would like to help with this.
