Each year RCC gathers together the Parish and Town Council’s Tree Wardens to discuss matters relating to trees. This has included chalara ash dieback, tree inspections, storm damage, protected trees, tree planting ideas and whatever the wardens would like to discuss.
This will be the third year the meetings will take place and I would like to repeat this invitation to all the Parish and Town Councils throughout the County. Your Council does not require a person with the status of “Tree Warden” to attend. We welcome any representative who has an interest in trees, and this may include someone who is not a Parish Councillor.
The latest event will take place in the Congregational Hall, Church Street, Ketton between 14:00 – 16:00 on Tuesday 21st April 2020. The agenda is (currently) as follows:
• Round table – What’s new
• Walk around the Ketton Tree Trail Route to see and name the large variety of native and other planted trees
• Walk around the new community orchard and newly planted willow sett cuttings
• Back at the hall, discuss the new tree nursery - with stratifying tree seeds and hardwood cuttings of about 12 native species
• Set up of a potential charity Ketton Green Spaces Group
• Refreshments and AOB
You are welcome to attend as many of the meetings as you wish and drop out at any time. These meetings are for the benefit of all those who attend. If you would like to attend any of the meetings, (currently held six months a part) please email back and I’ll include you in the email list.
Please note that the meetings do not include the discussion of any ongoing Planning Applications or tree related enquiries with RCC. If you would like to discuss individual cases, then please email me directly.
